WAS A GOOD YEAR FOR FWR in which we continued our work with the
2019 Wastewater Innovation Forum, the South Chilterns Catchment Partnership,
plus our collaboration with the Freshwater Biological Association in connection with the
upcoming Freshwater Biology & Ecology Handbook; we also participated in the annual Urban
Drainage Group conference and a number of country shows.

Moving on now to a new decade! Some personnel changes have occurred as we start the new
year: Steve Bungay has been the technical secretary for the Wastewater Innovation Forum for
some years and is now concentrating on a somewhat academic challenge, (you can read about
this in more detail below!) I would like to say a big thank-you to Steve for all his help and efforts
with the Forum. Following on from this, I now extend a very warm welcome to Oliver Grievson
who takes over from Steve with the running of the Forum – again, more about Oliver below.

Our first lead article for 2020 covers the pertinent topic of antibiotic resistance – thanks very
much to Dr Andrew Singer from CEH for this absorbing read.
