PREFACE

            Integrated options for ecological improvement

A wide range of people need to be engaged
in influencing water management. Much of Physical Habitat
the focus needs to be on associated land
            management, both urban and rural.

Often, it is the impact of human activity on land
that affects surface water and groundwater,
and which must therefore be managed.
No one individual or organisation can do this
alone and all need an understanding of the
ultimate outcome – a healthy and sustainable Good
            water environment. Ecological

Building teams across industry and Status
society, with the capability to manage Water Flow
water in a complementary and optimal Quality Regime
way, is the key to success. Educating
            and providing information to these
partners is a key aim of this handbook. Figure 2

achieve good ecological status. Paul Logan, Environment Agency
